P1, Kings Cross, London
Kings Cross P1 is a multi-use scheme for main contractor Carillion. The scheme comprised of a School At Ground and First Floor Levels, with the remaining 12 floors being residential. The residential element of the project included 1 and 2 Bedroom Key Worker apartments, 1, 2 & 3 Bedroom Open Market Apartments, Commercial Units and Community Facilities.
The main elevations consist of a series brick faced mullion and spandrel units with recon stone finished detail panels. The courtyard elevations comprised of white recon stone panels, spandrels and mullions. There were also a number of 4 sided brick faced cladding spandrels required at the top of the building. All the balconies required a brick faced cheek wall which was underslung to the floor slab.
The first 2 floors were stacked meaning only restraint was taken off the primary structure,
There are approximately 2100 number precast panels on the project. In order to comply with planning conditions, a number of the panels had to have Bat Boxes, Swift Boxes and Sparrow Terraces cast in to the units.
